Moravian Mission

We ride back in time to the first Moravian Mission station founded in South Africa - Genadendal (Valley of Grace) and birth place of the Afrikaans language. Explore Church Square, the Old Water Mill and a rich history that developed between the KhoeKhoen and early settlers. Find out how in the 17th century this unique relationship helped sustain the first port on the South African coast line and head quarters of the Dutch East India Company. And how this relationship disenfranchised the powerful Hesaqua tribe of their cattle and wealth and left them scattered across the Cape. Find out why with the help of a few key players, the fate of the people of Genadendal was changed and this small village, for a time,  became the second most populated town in South Africa and a village of great accomplishment.
